It’s often said that persistence is the key to success, which is valid for many successful people. Whether in business, sports, or any other field, those who refuse to give up in the face of adversity are the ones who ultimately achieve their goals. So, if you’re working towards something important, like finishing that book or getting it published, persistence can be the difference between success and failure. But how can we stay focused and keep pushing when life always gets in our way?
First, we should ask ourselves another question: Why do some days feel like flying and others feel like we are not motivated to lift a finger? The key word is motivation, so let’s see how we lose something as precious as that. It is easier than you think. We begin to stumble when we feel overwhelmed, stressed, or lose the clarity of our goal. Doubts kick in, fear of failure takes over, and we are burnt out in no time. It happens to everyone, so you shouldn’t feel bad about it. What counts is to get back on track as soon as possible.
REDUCE THE STRESS
We all agree that stress is one of our greatest enemies, so we’ll start with that. People often ask me how I manage to get it all done and how I have been able to do that for 25 years. It’s all about being organized and managing your time effectively. Many successful entrepreneurs will tell you precisely the same thing.
There is only so much you can squeeze in one day, so you should list the things that need to be done and others that can wait. Then, you don’t think about the stuff you are postponing that day. There are always errands that can wait for another time, people whose calls you don’t have to answer immediately, and cleaning that doesn’t need to be done this weekend. It’s enough to take two or three tasks a day off your plate to feel better instantly, and if you manage to take a break, have a walk, and buy yourself a coffee in that lovely place around the corner, even better.
THE RIGHT WAY TO TREAT THE FAILURE
Yeah, I know—easier said than done; I will admit as much, and I will also admit that I continue to struggle with failure after 25 years of my company’s constant growth. Every time I fail, I come close to that dangerous zone of self-doubt, the wasteland of depression that feeds on positivity, stripping me of motivation if I don’t get out quickly. Instead of lingering there, I try to figure out why that thing failed and what I can learn. Treating failure as a valuable lesson is the best way to turn things around. In time, you will lose the fear of failure, and it will no longer be your worst enemy but a friend who will help you move on.
GET RID OF THE DOUBTS
Another question you will ask yourself endlessly is whether you are good enough. I will not try to force-feed you because I have no idea how good you are regarding your work. Maybe you need to improve, you are getting there, or you are a genius yet to be discovered. It doesn’t matter because as long as you don’t quit, you will keep learning, perfecting your craft, and improving your work. After all, nobody is born with exceptional abilities; you must work hard to achieve them.
NURTURE YOUR MOTIVATION
Motivation is not something you were born with, and you should not feel sorry for yourself if you lack it. It is easier to blame it on your parents or other life circumstances, but the truth is, it is never too late to master new skills. First, you develop and strengthen your motivation; then, like your writing skills, you work on it daily. There is no better way to keep you motivated than the thrill of success. That’s why you should always set a list of small goals and celebrate each one. This will boost your confidence and make you feel good about your work.
DO NOT LOSE PATIENCE
Another unhealthy thing for your motivation is comparing yourself to others. We all have our paths, and yours might be a bit slower, but you’ll get there if you believe in your abilities and don’t lose focus. Stamina and the ability to persevere are your most significant advantages, so attempt to cultivate them. They will assist you, not just in writing, but in all other areas of your life.
If this all has been overwhelming, let’s make a list that is easy to follow.
HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED AND KEEP WRITING EVERY DAY?
- ORGANIZE YOURSELF BETTER
- MAKE A LIST OF THINGS YOU MUST DO
- MAKE A LIST OF THINGS YOU CAN POSTPONE
- FIND THE TIME FOR A BREAK TO RECHARGE
- EMBRACE THE FAILURE AS A VALUABLE LESSON
- KEEP IMPROVING YOUR CRAFT
- CELEBRATE SMALL VICTORIES
- DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS
- DO NOT LOSE PATIENCE
- CULTIVATE THE ABILITY TO PRESERVE

It is hard, but it’s worth every effort. It is good to know that we are not alone and that everyone fights the same battle.
